Re: contest the divorce

You file an answer within 21 days in opposition to the papers with which you're served and captioned in the style of the one entitled "Complaint for Decree of Divorce". You will not find a fill in the blanks form for this particular answer.

Re: contest the divorce

You should be able to find legal forms in a law library in your area. Public law libraries are usually located in or near the county courthouse. Try the volumes of Virginia Legal Forms by Gallo or a Virginia CLE binder entitled "Virginia Family Law: A Systematic Approach".

In any event, you should immediately consult with a family law lawyer in your area. If you cannot afford a lawyer, you may be able to receive free legal assistance from Legal Aid or Legal Services Corporation. Potomac Legal Aid Society services the Stafford County area. Many family law practitioners offer a free initial consultation. You may be able to receive an award of attorney's fees in your divorce case.
