Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Home Improvement/No-Show

Good afternoon. I hired an individual to lay rocks down to connect my concrete driveway to the actual street pavement. I paid the individual up front, but had no contract. The individual is now nowhere to be found. Do I have any case, or is this now a lost cause? I do, however, have a witness to this whole ordeal, his room mate. Is there anything I can do? Thanks for any help....

Re: Home Improvement/No-Show

Sure, you can sue this defaulting and disappearing one for up to $5000 in a Virginia small claims court---if you can ever locate him at an address where he can be served with the papers.
