Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Property Damage

Just bought a house, had the owner of an electrical copany install lights. He dropped a chandalier on our new wood florrs and scratched them. One of his co workers dropped a light fixture and broke our toilet tank top. He has agreed to fix the errors but he wants to use cheap parts instead of the original and paint patch the floor. I refuse to accept the substandard fix and demand restoration. Do I hae any legal rights in this situation?

Re: Property Damage

Yes, make a written demand of the electrical company for repair of all damages attributable to their workers' or agents' negligence, using materials comparable to those which were damaged.

If the company rejects this demand and fails to offer any reasonable compromise, then file your case in small claims court for whatever your verifiable damages may be up to $5000.
