Legal Question in Criminal Law in West Virginia

drug dog busted me at a roadblock

I don't know if I should retain counsel as this would be my first offense and I am told I will likely be let off with unsupervised 90 day probation. Stopped at a roadblock at 10pm on a country road I produced license and registration. they told me to pull to the side and then brought out a dog and he went around the vehicle 3 times, finally tapping on my door. they asked to search I said no, repeatedly as did my fiance in the passenger seat(it was her car), after badgering us to consent I told them I was getting out of the car, but we never consented to a search. We were both charged with possesion under 15 grams, issued a traffic summons and released. WE go to court on OCT 4, should we retain counsel?

thanks

YES.YES.YES. Unless,of course, you are an expert on the 4th Amendment or you want to plea guilty.

If you plea guilty, and waive your right to a lawyer, you will then have a record for the rest of your life.
