Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Alabama
My wife and I are seperated. She is planning to file bankruptcy Chapter 7 and does plan to reaffirm on the house the only thing we share name together in. Also, her lawyer advised getting the utilities off by either transfer or disconnect. My question will the house be in my name and will be alright to sign off her name off the utilities?

The filing of a bankruptcy case does not change the way a property is titled. The title will need to be changed with a deed. Your wife will probably be advised not to sign the property over to you until after her bankruptcy case is over. There is no reason to keep the utilities in her name. They can be changed to your name. You simply need to contact the utility companies and have that done.
