auto dealership will not produce title to automobile

My son purchased & financed a car in AL but has moved to LA. The dealership will not provide title (copy) so that he can get insurance in LA. They keep promising to ship tomorrow, etc. etc. but have not - this has been going on for 4 months. They have not been able to use the car because they can't get insurance w/o copy of title and they desperately need the use of this vehicle. We question whether the dealership has sold a car they don't have title too. How should he proceed?

I suspect that dealer does not have the title. I suggest you check with the Alabama Department of Revenue and see if the dealer ever had the title. Please give me a call if I can be of assistance.
