Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

My husband and I have struggled to save our marriage for a year and a half. He has finally filed for a dissolution. I've heard that if we file it , we have 6 months to change our minds, otherwise it's permanent. Is there any truth in this?

No.

There is a 60 day waiting period, after the date of filing, before a Judge would be willing to sign any settlement documents. BUT, once the divorce is final, there is no basis to set it aside simply because your minds have changed. You could however remarry, and then enter into a post-marital agreement basiclaly UNDOING all of the terms of the divorce.

We can certainly help you consider and then pursue your options.

One of our attorneys can explain the issues and procedures better in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via email. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss your matter in detail.

Please call us directly to discuss the specifics of your matter, or contact my assistant Gina or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule your free 1/2 hour consultation.
