I am an american citizen living in Mexico with my mexican husband and 3 year old son we want to travel to the us for vacation what kind of visa do they need.

Your Mexican citizen husband will need a Visitor's visa (which could be challenging to obtain). He will need to prove that he has non-immigrant intent.

Your son can be a dual citizen (a US citizen through you) -- if you meet derivative citizeenship requirements. If this is the case, his birth can be registered with the US embassy.
