Legal Question in Family Law in Brazil

Failed marriage to Brazilian, now what?

I was in Brazil for almost two years, left in September 2004 and signed a paper giving my boyfriend the right to sign for me. He signed a marriage certificate for us in December 2004. After a year long process he received his Conditional Residence visa and arrived here in October 2005. He spent a few weeks with me and I already knew it wouldn't work out. He left and went to Atlanta, returned to Nebraska, then left for Brazil. He spent a week there and returned to the U.S. and lived in Florida until February 2006 when he returned to Brazil for good. I want to terminate the marriage. What process will I need to go through. We don't jointly own any property or back accounts. Can I get this annuled or do I need to get a divorce?

Re: Failed marriage to Brazilian, now what?

The kind of process you need is of a direct divorce, this is quit easy if both parties do not mind divorcing, if one of two refuses to concede the divorce then we do have a problem, cause by now we shall need to litigate in your behalf proving mal-intent from his part and that the marriage is no logger possible.

- Our fees for a friendly divorce is of R$2.500,00, an that will take us 4 days.

- Our fees for a non friendly divorce is of R$12.000,00, an that will take us maximum 24 months.

That being,
