Re: how to file for bankrupcy?

You should not be using your credit cards if you know you'll be filing for bankruptcy. Card companies get snippy if you use your cards for luxury items within 3 mos. of filing BK. It's understood that cards sometimes are necessary for minor living expenses. But once you decide to file, you shouldn't use the cards.

Lawyers' fees vary. The court here in S. Cal. charges $209 for the filing fee. I think it's the same in your area. Some people choose to do the BKs on their own. Most lawyers would not advise it, especially if you own a house or property, have a retirement plan, expect to inherit, etc. There are certain considerations that only a lawyer can advise you about. Good luck to you!

I charge a flat fee depending on the complexity of the case. I offer a free consultation and can tell you exactly what the cost will be after we're done talking about what would be involved. If you don't want to hire me, no problem! No fee! As far as yesterday's credit card transaction is concerned, it depends a lot on what type of charge it was and for how much. There are several ways to handle that type of situation. Let me know if you would like to discuss this further and best of luck to you.
