Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Will my daughter's bankrupty affect me?

My daugher lives with me and my husband. If she declares bankruptcy, will that effect the credit of me or my husband? She is 23 years old and we live in California. I want to be sure that the courts cannot come after our assets. Thank you.

Unless you jointly hold a credit card or bank account or your names are the same, it shouldn't affect your credit.

Someone else's bk affects you if you're a co-signer (or in someother way jointly liable) on any of her debts. Her bk should not affect you just because she is your daughter and living with you. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this further.
