Legal Question in Disability Law in California

ADA parking

I work at a large building in encino ca. I am disabled and have a DP placard. There are disabled spaces in the lot and valet parking. I pull into the DP spot and now they The building MGR) tell me I can't park there because it ''only for visitors. (it is not marked that way) not employees''. There ARE only 8 spaces for the whole complex and there are rehab facilites, a pain managment place, pharmacy and mostly dr. offices. I am not sure what the ratio is but I do know it goes up when there are mainly these type of businesses located here. They tell me I can't park ion a PD spot. So what this means is there are NO employee DP spaces. My phone number is 818 429 2826. I am right down the street from you when I am at work.

Re: ADA parking

There are some conflicts in the rules about DP spaces in situations like this. Thus, there is no guaranteed answer, but the building is required to make some available to both visitors and tenants. The number required is set by the building codes and occupancy limits. The best I can tell you is that you can pursue a denial claim to try to force them to allow you to use a space. They may bow to pressure if you have your attorney demand compliance, with the threat of litigation if necessary. Feel free to contact me if serious about doing this.
