Legal Question in Disability Law in California

a buisness owner offered to do an oil change on my vehilcle and while in his possesion vehicle was stolen. my insurance had lapsed. was suppose to be in his garage. he claims to have left it in his driveway with keys locked in it. do i have any rights. i got the car back and now the motor is blown

You would have to prove the car was stolen due to the negligence of the business owner to hold him liable for damages. It is not enough that the car was stolen while in his possession. If you think you can prove this, file a small claims for damages up to $7,500.

Obviously, report the theft to police -- you'll need the theft report, and proof of ownership, when you sue him in small claims if under $7500. .
