Legal Question in Disability Law in California

Disability Assistance

My brohter in law has recently had a variety of medical problems and been on paid disability from his company through this time. Although the major medical problem appears to now be resolved he has lost the majority of his vision as a side effect, which can not be fixed. It may come back as his nerves repair themselves, but it is currently unknown. He would like to go back to work, but would need special assistance ie. special computer programs, and possibly other assistance. He has been with his company for some time and is at a managerial level. I believe I have heard that a company is under law supposed to accomodate these circumstances if the employee can still perform their job. Is this correct?

Re: Disability Assistance

IF he is still within the time period where he has a right to return to work, then he can require he be accommodated in his disability, as long as he can do the essential functions of his job with such accommodation. If he needs legal assistance in making such requests, and/or wants to consult about the details, have him contact me.
