Re: discrimination
You Hire A Lawyer.
Hopefully you didn't foul up your case by filling out the DFEH form yourself, but I'm not optimistic.
Re: discrimination
You would proceed just like in any other situation - by filing a lawsuit in court. It is important to remember that DFEH issues letters to sue pretty much to everyone and these letters don't determine liability or lack thereof on the part of the employer. It would be a very good idea for you to present your case to an attorney who can evaluate your chances of prevailing on the claims you are planning to pursue.
Employment litigation is challenging to attorneys who specialize in this field; not to mention employees who represent themselves.

Re: discrimination
While blunt, Mr. Stone is correct that you probably should retain an attorney who handles discrimination law cases. Jury can give very large awards, but you will probably be going against a private law firm that will try to drown you in paperwork. You will need to have witnesses and have to know how to proceed correctly. Without an attorney you might not realize that if you do received any money you want the least reasonable sum to be for wage loss as that is taxable as ordinary income but damages for emotional distress are not taxed.
Re: discrimination
By properly and timely filing suit and pursing the litigation, or hiring an attorney to do so if you don't know how. You will be going up against professional defense counsel who's job it is to defeat your claims. If this is in SoCal, and if you have a case with merit, value and collectability, feel free to contact me.
