Legal Question in Disability Law in California

I am employed by a pediatric office, where I may be exposed to contagious diseases. I am undergoing chemo and therefore on state disability now for a year. My chemo and disability will need to be extended and I may need to go to federal disability. So far my employer has kept me on health insurance through the office. How long does he need to keep me covered through the office?

Need?

The employer was required at most to provide you an unpaid 12 week leave under FMLA. He is obviously generous to you, but can terminate you and the insurance any time after that 12 weeks expires.
