Legal Question in Disability Law in California

how many handicapped parking spaces does an apartment complex in orange county, california have to have? We have one handicapped space in a mixed lot (some spaces are paid reserved - the remainder are first come, first served). I am disabled and have offered to pay for a single reserved parking spot. Most of the paid reserved spots are tandem parking. However, there are 2 single reserved spots ... one is paid for by a resident ... the other is reserved for a young woman who works in the leasing office and lives on the premises. They will not let me pay for a single reserved spot.

As many as required in their building permit and plan approval process. If you think they are out of compliance you can request the building dept inspect. In addition, IF you could show they were somehow 'discriminating' against a disability, and failing to accommodate, then you might have a claim over that. However, everyone with a handicap sticker has a 'disability' or they wouldn't get one. They aren't graded by severity. Thus, you wouldn't likely be able to succeed.
