Legal Question in Disability Law in California
High school student with ADHD
My daughter is 14. She has trouble sitting, focusing,is disruptive in class. All her teachers know she has this disorder. Last year I got no help from The Jr high. Their only solution was just to repetitively suspend her. I had a meeting with the High school special ed representative at the end of last school year. She said we would have a meeting with the teachers at the start of the school year and set a guide for her for the school year. Well I got a call from 2 different teachers sense School started 3weeks ago I returned one call and was told the teacher was in class and left a message. The teacher is claiming he never received the message. The other teacher I spoke with later that evening, and I was told that he just had to many students and didn't have the time to babysit her.Today I get a call from the asst principal Telling me they are going to suspend her. I asked him about the meeting I was spoused to have with the school and he said they already had it with my child and there was no need for me to attend. This made me upset and I demanded another meeting. since school has started, My child has spent most of the school days in ISS for disruptive behaver. How do we get the school to work with us,what are our rights?

Re: High school student with ADHD
If you have, or can get, an actual medical opinion that she has a 'disability', and it appears that is the case, then she must be reasonably accommodated. If all you have done so far is ask for 'help' without making a proper accommodation request, then you can't complain about their lack of response. Feel free to contact me if serious about getting legal help for her.
