Petty Theft
The person i am inquiring of picked up a chainsaw, went to a bagel shop, bought a bagel and coffee and left merchandise in bagel shop and Sears retrieved the chainsaw. The question is the person who took the chainsaw was on medication called Cymbalta. He does not remember taking the chainsaw and had a seizure outside the bagel store. He had taken 180 mg of medication and the prescribed dosage was 60 mg. The side effects was strange and unusual behavior, seizures, etc. can he be protected by this. He had priors but it was from years ago and has not committed the same type of crime until now. Please help me.

You don't need help, he does, in the form of an attorney who can properly present his defenses, such as they may be. That is how he will be 'protected'. He should apply for the public defender if he can't afford private counsel. Trying to represent himself in a criminal case, especially where he is claiming temporary incapacity and drug misuse, is not sensible.
