Homesteading will not prevent you from being sued. It might reduce the desirability of suing you because it has some sheltering effect on the equity in your home. As far as I know, there is no "official" form for a Declaration of Homestead, but you can probably buy a commercially-produced form that will work just fine via other links on the LawGuru site, or at a local stationery store.

Homesteading doesn't stop anyone from suing you; it only protects a portion of the equity in your home from being attached by a judgment creditor. You should be able to get a Declaration of Homestead form at stationery stores that sell such things. Try a search on the web. Record it with your local County Recorder. The new amended bankruptcy laws also don't protect you from creditors much anymore; so, don't ignore the threat of lawsuit, consult with an attorney about defending it. Contact me if interested in doing so, and you are in SoCal.
