Police promise in exchange for a bust
I was wondering if it is legal for an officer to strike a deal and not keep his end of the bargain. Recently I made a deal with a narcotics officer. I was not in trouble or anything, but I have this juvenile case for my son, recently they placed him for adoption. I also had or should say have a warrant for $100,000 bail for failure to appear on a petty theft charge, actually it was my daughter who was caught shoplifting, but they charged me. Anyways this officer said he would clear my warrant, so I can deal with issues such as appealing the adoption, and he said he would get me some visits with my son. I went ahead and set up a buy bust for him and got him a half a pound of meth. Then after that, he said he could not help me out. Is that legal?

An officer is not the one who cuts deals. Attorneys do. All an officer can do is make a suggestion to the attorney but nothing more.
