Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California
Default Judgement
I was sued by a family member in California. I live in Philadelphia. A default judgement was entered against me in October. I had no money to hire a Caloifornia lawyer. I have a little money now, can I have the case reopened?

Re: Default Judgement
At best, you have 6 months from entry of judgment to file a motion to set aside the judgment. You have to show good cause in the motion, as well as valid defenses to the lawsuit, but the courts 'favor' such motions to allow the case to be decided on the merits. If the case is in Southern California, and you are serious about getting legal help, feel free to contact me.
