Re: Why dont states and federal appeals courts have juries?

In a jury trial, the jury's job is to figure out the facts and the judge's job is to apply the law. Appeals are about whether the judge did his job properly, which means that the only issues on appeal are about the law and not the facts. There is no need for a jury when there are no factual issues to decide.

Appeals courts are to correct errors of law, not determinme facts.

Because there is no new evidence presented, only a review of the trial transcript and documents to see if there were legal errors made. Appeals are not 'trials'.
