Stop Garnishment

How can I stop a garnishment? A Furniture store is currently garnishing my wages. It's been almost a year

I am a single mother with three children and recently lost

an apartment. I currently living in an motel paying rent

week to week. They are taking out $50.00 a month.Could you

please give advice how to stop this garnishment.

You should contact a lawyer familiar with collections work. If you cannot afford to see one, go to the legal aid society. Many charitable organizations have referrals to neighborhood legal services, as do law schools or call a bar association. There are exemptions which you might be able to claim, or maybe the judgment being enforced is defective. (A garnishment is a method of enforcing a money judgment.)

Do something sooner rather than later.
