Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
I am attempting to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Since I had filed pro se about 13 years ago, I have no income or assets and passed the means test, I believe it is a pretty straightforward bankruptcy with $30K in credit card debt, and I simply have no funds to give to an attorney for help, I figured I'd try to file pro se again. Even if creditors sued me, there's absolutely nothing to get. However, I've spoken to a number of attorneys and a couple have tried to scare me into retaining them and a couple have said to get the Nolo Press book and do it on my own. I'm within a whisker of living in my car so hiring an attorney is virtually impossible. Would it be a completely bad idea to do this pro se if I get the book and use that as a guide?

The Nolo Press book should be at your local library or courthouse law library. It certainly sounds like you've got nothing to lose.
