Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Bankruptcy still on Credit report after 10 years

It's been over 10 years since I had

filed bankruptcy yet I am still being

denied certain credit because

bankruptcy is still showing up on my

credit report. I thought bankruptcy

would be taken off my report after 10

years -- is this not true?

Re: Bankruptcy still on Credit report after 10 years

It is not 10 years from the date of filing, it is 10 years from the date of discharge. Having said that, a letter to the credit reporting agencies asking them to remove the reporting will probably work as they are required to do an investigation, which they cannot realistically do on a file that old.
