Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
I live in the state of California and I am married. Can I file for an individual bankruptcy? Will I jeopardize my employment with a banking institution if I file for bankruptcy? Thank you.

You can file for an individual bankruptcy. I have no idea about how or if this would affect your employment (in most cases any adverse employment action as a result of your filing for bankruptcy would be against the law). If someone is going to garnish your wages, it could save your employment.
I've filed Chapter 7 bankruptcies for many bank employees. I have not heard of any adverse effects. Certainly, bank employees are not immune from the economic downturn or sudden hardships.
The bankruptcy will take into account your spouse's income and household expenses to determine whether you qualify for a Chapter 7.
