rental property
we are renting a house and our
landlord filled for chapter 7 bankruptcy.
how long will we have in the house?
what will happen next. i tried to contact
the trustee but they won't help.

Depending on their circumstances, the debtor still might wind up owning the house after the BK. Continue paying your rent until instructed otherwise.
You might contact the mortgage lender and find out what its intentions are with regard to your rental agreement if it intends to proceed with a foreclosure. It might enter into a new lease with you, even on the same terms, so that you can stay.
