Legal Question in Business Law in California

Doing business in my Name!!

Through my divorce I was awarded the house & the Judge awarded her the business, my concern is the business license & liquor license is in my name only. It's been a year now and she has made no attempt to transfer the business license or the liquor license out of my name. She has no citizenship to be in the U.S., I don't even now if she would be able to transfer the license's to her own name because of this issue. Please advice am I still liable because all the licenses are in my name only? What should I do ? Help ! Help! Ty

Re: Doing business in my Name!!

Have you tried notifying the appropriate regulatory agencies that you no longer are involved in the businesses? I would think they would put pressure on her to resolve those issues once they're notified.

Re: Doing business in my Name!!

Notify the licensing agencies of your divorce settlement, and provide them with a copy of the order awarding your ex the business, so as to protect yourself from liability. You should also consider a public notice that you are no longer involved in or responsible for the liabilities of the business. Other than protecting yourself from liability, this is really her issue, not yours.

If you can't do this yourself, get counsel to do it right before you have problems with ABC caused by her error. As long as you're on the license, your're responsible. Feel free to contact me if interested in doing so.
