Can a business take money from your paycheck when it is a shared register?

I can vaguely remember researching this issue about ten years ago, and I think the answer is no; you are entitled to full pay and are innocent until proven guilty of taking cash out of the cash register. I could be wrong. You might try making an appointment to talk to someone at the state labor commissioner's office near you; someone there might know better than I. I'd advise making an appointment to talk to someone in person rather than trying to explain the issue to just whomever answers the phone.

Employers may not charge back losses to employees unless there is evidence of theft or gross misconduct. They can fire you of course, as you are an 'at will' employee. Try to keep them happy with you.
