cleaning company threating to sue
three months ago we hired a cleaning company to clean our business, it was a month to month with a 60 day trial-never receive contract, work was terrible, canceled verbally and now they send letter stating we owe $3,000 for not giveing 30 day notice in writing. threat to ruin our credit and sue us. refuses to send copy of contract. What can we do? thank you very much

If you signed no contract and there was no terms requiring cancellation, then you should win.
The bigger problem is if they ding your credit. Therefore, you want want to sue them in small claims Court first.

Send them a letter with a 'payment in full' check, explaining you are paying for only what is fair and justified under the contract. If they sue, then defend the suit. It will likely be in small claims. You could have an attorney advise you on how to present your case in court, even if he can't appear for you in small claims.
