Legal Question in Business Law in California

Competitor Website

I'm a business owner, and one of my competitors is posting untrue statements about my company on his website. A client notified me of the website. What can I do?

Re: Competitor Website

Send a cease-and-desist letter by certified return-receipt mail. Give him a specific date by which to take down the information and to notify others who use his page to remove it from theirs. If he doesn't, then you can bring a lawsuit for defamation. Please note that it's very difficult to remove all traces of the information because search engines keep page copies forever, it seems. But at least the primary source should disappear. Good luck.

Get a good attorney to write a cease and desist demand, or even file suit if the facts justify it. Depends on your provable damages. Feel free to contact me if interested.
