Legal Question in Business Law in California
contract dispute
Hi,
Firstly I am in the UK but the company I am potentially in dispute with is in the US. About 1 year ago I exchanged contracts with an online advertising firm to display advertising on my websites for a minimum fee per 1000 adverts dispayed. This arrangement has turned out not to their liking and they have told me to remove the advertising from my sites. In my opinion this is breach of contract and subject to compensation, is this correct? My Income from this was around $70,000 per month and there was no time limit on the contract.

There's no way to answer your question without reading the contract.

There is no way to answer your question without knowing what the contract says.
Re: contract dispute
Generally, if the contract does not speak to a term, it may be subject to termination by either party at any time upon reasonable notice. You would be well advised to have a US attorney interpret the actual contract since other terms could greatly affect this general statement. You do not indicate where the US company is located. If it is in California, you're welcome to give me ring. Otherwise, each state's laws are different and you need to find an attorney in that same area because the corporation would have to be sued in the same region where they are located.

You're not going to get an informed and usable opinion without full review of the contract and all factors. Either you resolve it with them, or risk litigation if the dispute escalates. If the company and court case would be in Southern California, feel free to contact me if you get serious about legal help. I've been doing such litigation for over 30 years.
