Legal Question in Business Law in California

Contract Law

My sister bought me a car then forced me to sign a promissory note to repay her. She refused my ''small'' payments and insisted on only large sums of money, which I came up with. She then gifted a portion of the car to me, released the lien, and now shes's claiming I breached the contract. What are my defenses?

Re: Contract Law

Have you been sued? If so, in Small Claims Court? If the answer to both questions is yes, I'd say your defenses are exactly what you've said; go to court with your documents and describe what happened to the judge. Your facts are, or contain, defenses with fancy legal names duress, menace, fraud, accord and satisfaction, etc. but the judge will figure it out.
