Re: conversion

If you have evidence of your proper copyright of the works, then you can take action for infringement and related causes of action for the violation. Feel free to contact me if you are serious about doing so.

Re: conversion

Not sure exactly what your question is. I can say that your facts suggest you are looking for a civil rather than a criminal remedy...conversion is the civil analog of the crime of theft.

Whether your situation points to a suit for conversion in state court or a copyright infringement in federal court would depend upon exactly what the thieves are selling - originals or copies. Selling purloined originals could be sued upon in state court (or possibly federal court) as conversion. If they are making copies, that's a copyright violation and suit probably belongs in federal court. Copyright cases can be either civil or criminal, depending inter alia upon who brings the charges, the injured party or a prosecutor.

I hope this is helpful; contact me if it doesn't address your issues.
