Legal Question in Business Law in California
false business accusation
the calif. state board of equalization held me liable for a business tax debt for almost (9) years. my signature was forged on a business sellers permit/registration as a retailer application, I was informed back in 1997 and along with this notification came a 25% wage garnishment that went into affect imediately. I complied with the s.b.o.e. to get myself cleared by compling with all their request but still I was held liable. and just 2-28-2006 I was finally cleared of any involvement in this said partnership and this notification came just one day before I was scheduled for an appeals hearing. one month prior to this hearing I resubmitted the same exact evidense that I turned in back in 1997. It took the loss of everything I ever owned and almost nine years for someone over there to evaluate my situation and to see I had absolutely no involve ment with this said business partnership. although the wage garn. was only in the first few years, I feel I should be refunded+, but when I was recently notified by them of being cleared of this said partnership. Iwas also told there will be no refund due to a (3) year statue of limitations.

Re: false business accusation
If the attorney you consulted back in 1997 missed or failed to inform you about the statute of limitations, you might have a remedy.
Re: false business accusation
regardless of what they told you, promptly file a government claim for damages, based upon the recent finding vindicating you. Depending on what you agreed to and admitted to 'get yourself cleared', you may still have a valid claim and right to reimbursement. Contact me if interested in having legal help doing this. You'll need it.
