Legal Question in Business Law in California

Grant Award

I received a letter regarding a large amount of money awarded to me by a company call Media Global Grant. How can I find out if this company is legit?

Re: Grant Award

If you want me to phone them and ask a few key questions on your behalf, FAX me a copy of the letter with or without giving me your name, your choice, but at least give me an e-mail or FAX number to get back to you after I inquire. By the way, I start out assuming this is NOT legit and that at some point you would be asked to provide a credit card or bank account number, etc. A Google inquiry for this name turned up nothing.

Re: Grant Award

Does the phrase 'too good to be true' mean nothing to you? Of course it is a scam. No legitimate company offers to give away 'free' money, other than for winning something you actually signed up for, like the lotto or sweepstakes. You'd know if you bought a ticket. Contact the police and consumer fraud agencies in your area to report the scam.
