Legal Question in Business Law in California
I hired my best friend to run my business of publishing two monthly magazines that were making good profits until he shut down the business on July 31st, 2007 and opened up another office where he published a magazine identical except he changed the title from "Happy Magazine" to "Blisss Magazine" and hired the same staff, let Happy's ad contracts lapse, ran up all kinds of debt. It's obvious that the two magazines are identical. Same Action Sports content from the same staff, same advertisers in the same positions. While he was handsomely paid to tend to my garden, he not only neglected it but poisoned what was left after stealing most of the plants and transplanting them at his place and selling the fruit to my former vendors. I know I can sue this guy and he'll be forced to reach a financial settlement after some back and forth. He's making a bunch of money after stealing my business. I have solid evidence that while taking a paycheck from me he was having meetings with my contracted advertisers convincing them that everythings going to be the same except the title. My main ? is what is my statue of limitations so I can sue this guy?
