Legal Question in Business Law in California
Are there any laws in California related to sales closed after an sales rep leaves a company? I am about to leave my current employer but I have business slated to close soon. I have performed all the solution design work and provided quotes to my clients but the purchase orders won't be received prior to my last day of employment. The owner of the company is offering to pay me for business closed for up to 30 days after my last day if I stay a little longer. My comp plan is commission only based on 60/40 split of profits so there is no base salary.

Is there a contractual agreement in place regarding commissions? That is one of the first things an attorney would want to review.
You get paid commissions only in accordance with the company policies in their handbook or their 'customs' you can prove. Many companies have you forfeit any unpaid commissions. If there is a substantial amount of money at issue, and if you think you can show you are 'entitled' to be paid more that is being offered, feel free to contact me for the legal help you'll need.
