Legal Question in Business Law in California

I do massages in my massage studio and ran a listing in a local phone directory only to find that when printed, they put someone elses text with my logo and header. I've worked hard to build my business and feel that this may be damaging to my reputation and continued business. I never signed any limitation of liability or any other documentation. They are a small company and only print 12,000 copies. Do I have to prove that they have damaged my business in order to receive compensation for it? If so, how? Thank you for your time.

Whether your reputation was harmed depends upon what the text said and how it relates to your actual business. Without knowing that, I can't assess your injury. Feel free to contact me directly if you want to discuss your case in more detail.

Read your ad contract. They generally limit your damage recovery to the cost of the ad.
