Legal Question in Business Law in California
mechanical lien
I entered into a contract to have my floors replaced. Half of the job was completed when I learned that the business owner was not paying his subcontractors. The sub contractor who has completed his portion of the job has talked of placing a mechanical lien on my house if he is not paid. I am willing to pay for the contracted work, but I'm not sure who to pay. The owner or the subcontractor. What are my options?

Re: mechanical lien
Resolve this right now, before you end up owing twice. Get an attorney to help you if you don't know how to obtain proper lien releases from both.
