Legal Question in Business Law in California

I had hired a automotive professional to ''restore'' my 30 year old car to its original condition in 2/2002. Recently, after being unable to reach him on numerous occasions I demanded to have the vehicle returned. When I got the car back it was apparent that very little work has been done over the past four years. He has been paid close to $10,000. What recourse do I have?

I'm afraid a lawsuit for refund is your remedy if you can't informally resolve it with him. Feel free to contact me to discuss the situation after you try yourself. I'm also a car guy, currently suffering 2 1/2 years and counting on getting a muscle car redone, so you've got me beat; but I haven't prepaid either.
