Legal Question in Business Law in California
What is the Statue of Limitations for filing a small claims lawsuit against a company that owes me money for services rendered? The company is in Utah. The contract states the California as the "Governing Law". I am located in California.

If you have a written contract, it is four years from the date payment was due and not paid.

If the contract was for work done in CA, then just file the case and let the company object if the statute of limitation is an issue. What do you have to lose?

To answer Mr. Nelson's question, you could lose the case.
I agree with Mr. McCormick. The statute of limitations in California for a breach of a written contract is four (4) years. The statute of limitations begins to run when the contract is breached.
