Legal Question in Business Law in California
Can I sue Taxicab Administration for distroying my business?
I am the owner of a small taxicab company in San Diego county. Just 3 years ago I had 12 cabs, now just 4. The reason- Taxicab administration does not allow my company to make pick ups in San Diego city(were all major events are) and at the same time allows all
taxicabs from San Diego make pick ups in our city of El Cajon. They do not issue new medalions for the city of San Diego (about 2 million people) and keep selling new medallions for our city (sold about 50 lately for population of 200 thousand). It is a little bit more complicated, but no space.
Plus, do they have the right to charge us the same fee, as cabs of San Diego?- They say-yes.-They spend as much time to ''regulate'' us, as to regulate cabs of the city of San Diego.- I understand it differently: You don't give me equal access as others have,- charge me less! Does it have any sence?

This sounds like a political matter that you should take up with the El Cajon city council. Contact your local council member and see if you can perhaps get a group of others in a similar situation to put forth a proposal that would assist local drivers.

Your question(s) are a bit vague for the space you were allocated here. If you would like to email us directly with a better summary of your factual circumstances, we may be able to legally assist you thereafter.

You have an interesting situation; it may be a purely political matter, or you may have legal or even constitutional reasons as to why the taxicab administration is liable to you for the damages you have suffered. But you haven't given us much information; if you would like to talk about this further, please feel free to contact me.

If you could get a group of other drivers together, you could afford to bring a case against SD for unequal treatment that might stand a chance of success. It has happened elsewhere. Feel free to contact me if interested.

As other attorneys have mentioned, you may have a case, however more information would be necessary. For example, has your business been denied a medallion based on an arbitrary reason other than place of business? If you would like to discuss you situation further, including exploring the possibility of garnering public support for your cause.(The San Diego Hotel Association and Tourist Associations would be provide good support) feel free to contact me. As an FYI, you will notice that I am located in San Diego.
Yours truly,
