Theft in workplace

Can an 18 year old employee with no criminal history go to jail/prison for stealing four computers?

You will need to google "CA criminal code" and find what statutes cover theft to have an idea of what punishments apply. You really should get an attorney.

In California it is called the "Penal Code."

This would be grand theft based on the probablt value of the computers, hence a felony, and the young man could get a prison sentence. More likely as a first offender he would get some jail time (not much) and a suspended sentence and probation.

Duh. Felonies like that frequently result in prison sentences. With a good attorney, a first time offender might get probation terms with not too much jail time. Feel free to contact me if interested in avoiding prison, and if the case is in SoCal.
