Legal Question in Business Law in California

Tuition Reiumbursement

My company has a policy that they reimburse their employees upon successful completion of pre-approved courses. I did as instructed in my company policy handbook and obtained preauthorization to take the courses. I am in the middle of coursework for three classes that I have already paid for out of pocket, and my company has now recanted on the original offer to reimburse me for those classes, even though I have already exhausted the financial resources.. Is this legal and do I have any recourse if it is not?

It sounds like a breach of contract to me, unless you were on notice that this might happen when you put down your money. You can sue the company for the money it promised you, provided that you complete the courses successfully.

Legal? Sure, it is not a crime. Recourse? Sure, if you can prove that policy, you could sue for the costs.
