All kidding aside, if they are giving you the run around there may or may not be a reason for it. Sometimes a low level employee just doesn't feel like working, sometimes the company has decided to help out their cash flow by slow paying (or not paying).

What this means is that you may be best served by an attorney demand letter, to light a fire under them. Sometimes it takes an actual lawsuit.

As a story, I once had a client with a relatively small claim (like yours) against a major multinational, household name company. They could not get the invoices paid. I could not get anyone in the company to get the invoices paid. So we filed suit, that got the case in front of their attorney who promptly sent a check.

On the other hand, I had another client come in with similar facts, only the company happened to be Etoys, and they promptly filed bankruptcy.

This is a collections/breach of contract case. The first step would be a demand letter. The next step would be to file suit, if there was no response to the letter. Continue to wait, walk away, or file suit. Take your pick. You can file in Small Claims court up to $7500 per invoice, or for the full amount in Superior Court. If serious about getting legal help, feel free to contact me.
