Legal Question in Business Law in California
webdesigner abusing passwords and protected information
i just had to end the working
relationship with my webdesigner for
my webstore. in the roughly 24
hours since she has entered
password protected territory for my
site and changed and deleted things.
i know this can be traced, but I
would like to know what my rights
are, she never got permission to
enter at all on paper, and since the
relationship is now ended, all ethics
should prohibit her from touching
anything remotely related to my site.

Yes. But telling you that doesn't accomplish anything. Unless you can resovle this yourself, get an attorney quickly to take action to protect yourself.
Re: webdesigner abusing passwords and protected information
Immediately change your passwords. Hopefully, there's a backup somewhere that you could restore. Web designers don't need a license, nor are they required to carry errors and omissions insurance.
Re: webdesigner abusing passwords and protected information
You can consult with our CA attorney regarding claims you have against this person, and we can take action to make sure they know what trouble they are in so they don't do anything else to you, like hijack your domain. Make sure you change the account access information to your registrar account ASAP and make sure you are listed as the registrant(with all your information) in the WHOIS registry. Feel free to contact me directly if you have questions or want additional advice for a reasonable fee.
