Legal Question in Business Law in California

work for hire agreement

I commissioned artwork (as a work for hire) for the cover of a book I will be self-publishing from a graphic artist employed by a print shop. What is the most appropriate form for me to order to ensure that my company owns this material exclusively, and that is is the copyright property of my company?

Re: work for hire agreement

You need a work for hire contract drafted to cover your situation. You will also want to file for federal copyright protection.

A properly drafted contract specifying the rights and responsibilities of each party. Better to spend a little money now on attorney fees, than spend a lot later in litigation. Feel free to contact me if serious about doing this right.
