Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
The administration at a community college in san bernardino informed me I was dismissed from my adjunct position because someone reported I was overheard remarking how a certain tenured instructor was so rude to students and incompetent to teach. A legal reason for dismissal?

If you were an at-will employee, then the college could dismiss you for the reason you state. If you were not an at-will employee and could be terminated only for cause, then probably not. The question of whether you were at-will or not will depend on your contract with the college. If you have a union, you should contact your union representative. There may also be a procedural basis for challenging your termination.
Whether it is or not, you have appeal rights under the Education Code and your contract, so follow them.
